Fishing on the River Whiteadder will reopen on Friday 29th May 2020.

Please be mindful of Government advice on social distancing, meeting up and group numbers as well as any travel restrictions.

Please also respect the safety of the people working and living by the river and do not put them at risk by your actions.

If it looks like others are fishing on the stretch then move on to another place.

Be considerate and sensible in how you go about your fishing. 


The Whiteadder Angling Association controls a large tract of Brown Trout fishing from the foot of the Whiteadder Dam in the Lammermuirs to below Chirnside. The Whiteadder Angling Association has been in existence since 1930 and its objectives are to:-

  • Preserve and protect the fish
  • Prevent poaching and illegal fishing
  • Promote and improve fishing on the Whiteadder and tributaries
  • Manage the Association funds in the interests of Angling, Flora & Fauna of the catchment area and local good causes.
